Our December Student of the Month is Brynne Tynes, MS3!
Brynne is known for her diligence, integrity, and empathy which have been apparent throughout the year. During her Internal Medicine rotation, Brynne asked a patient if there was anything she could do to help him feel more comfortable during his hospital stay. The patient, previously guarded and withdrawn with other team members, opened up to Brynne about his inability to contact his family. This patient had been in the ED for two days, unable to contact family members due to his cellphone being dead. He was worried for his family and was anxious to let them know that he was okay. After rounds, Brynne went out of her way to obtain his daughter’s contact information and update her about her father’s condition and location. She then communicated to the patient that he could expect his family. The next day, the patient seemed like a new person! Brynne saw suffering and chose to advocate for her patient rather than sit idly by. She brings hope and kindness to all who encounter her. Brynne will make an excellent compassionate physician.
Congratulations, Brynne!
