CAMP TIGER
Free summer camp for children and teens ages 5 to 18 years old living with physical and cognitive challenges such as cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and more.
Since 2000, this camp has been organized by medical students from LSU Health Shreveport. Throughout the week, campers participate in a variety of activities in the Shreveport community such as trips to Hot Wheels of Wonder Skating Rink, Sci-Port Discovery Center, Gators and Friends, Holiday Lanes Bowling, and much more. Most importantly, the campers benefit from the social interaction with one another and the individual attention from camp counselors. We are looking forward to Camp Tiger 2025!
Camper Registration
In order to keep Camp Tiger as safe and fun as possible, there are a limited number of spots available for campers. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be accepted until the deadline or a maximum number of applicants, whichever occurs first. After applications have closed, we will begin accepting campers for the waitlist. Priority will be given to first and second time campers. Campers who have attended for more than two years will be given priority on a first come, first serve basis. Applications will open January 1, 2025 to register your camper for Camp Tiger 2025!
*Camper applications open January 1st for Camp Tiger 2025. Please contact us at camptigershv@lsuhs.edu to be added to the waitlist if you are unable to complete the form. Thank you!*
Camp Tiger Testimonials
“Camp Tiger was such a blast! It warms my heart to watch our campers laugh and play together in an encouraging and judge-free environment. We had so much fun at each stop on our adventure. We’re blessed to have many gracious donors that make these Camp Tiger adventures possible. This is such a special week for both the campers and counselors alike!” Hayley Vervaeke, MS2
"The most rewarding part of serving [...] this summer was seeing the smiles of the children from the moment they arrived at camp to the moment they left. My fondest memory of camp was when [my camper] played pool. I'm so glad and thankful my classmates and I have the opportunity to put on Camp Tiger!" Kristie Tso
“Camp Tiger has been my most meaningful experience this year because of the heartfelt bond formed between me and my camper. He displayed great affection with endless hugs and gave me the opportunity to learn basic sign language. Ultimately, watching his worries go away for a moment while he enjoyed the activities is what made this event so significant. With all the compassionate medical students that volunteered at Camp Tiger, there is no doubt in my mind that the campers left knowing they are appreciated, accepted, and loved.” - Aizaz Ahmad, MS1
