MD Program Handbook and Policy Manual
LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine
Introduction
The LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine, MD Program Handbook and Policy Manual is
a guide to current policies, standards, procedures, and resources that govern students in the
School’s MD program.
Students in the MD program are subject to both School of Medicine and institutional (LSU
Health Shreveport) established policies and standards, which ensure a safe, professional, and
academically rigorous learning environment. While comprehensive, this document may not
include every applicable policy; students are expected to stay informed of and adhere to all
applicable standards, guidelines, and procedures, whether or not they are explicitly listed. Failure
to comply with these policies may result in disciplinary action in accordance with established
procedures.
Every effort is made to ensure that information contained in this handbook is accurate and
current. The School of Medicine and LSU Health Shreveport reserve the right to make changes
and revisions to applicable regulations, policies, procedures, requirements, and other information
on the website at any time without notice.
The online version of the MD Program Handbook and Policy Manual – not a printed copy or
PDF summary – is the official and prevailing version.
The official email account for all School and institutional communications is the LSU Health
Shreveport (@lsuhs.edu) account. Students are responsible for regularly checking this email and
responding in a timely manner.
Questions regarding the MD Program Handbook and Policy Manual can be directed to the Office
of Medical Education at shvstudentaffairs@lsuhs.edu.
