EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
A list of all the educational resources available to our learners can be accessed via https://guides.lsuhsc.edu/m1info/step1.
Highlights of the digital medical resources that we provide to our learners include access to:
- AccessMedicine is a database with 156 textbooks and multimedia resources such as interactive Anatomy modules. It also includes self-study questions and cases for learning. Some class textbooks come from this resource. This is provided by the LSUHS Library.
- AMBOSS provides interactive anatomy resources, a question bank that will provide explanations of each question, a library, and links to ANKI for studying. Students receive this their M1-M3 years. This is graciously supplied by the School of Medicine.
- Board Review Series is database of 11 books that provide overviews of major basic science topics and has self-assessment options. This is graciously supplied by the School of Medicine.
- Boards and Beyond is a video-based review resource for students as well as quizzes for self-assessment. Students receive this their M1-M2 years. This is graciously supplied by the School of Medicine.
- ClinicalKey is a database of over 1000 textbooks that includes videos. Some class textbooks come from this resource. This is provided by the LSUHS Library.
- First Aid for the USMLE® in print is provided to medical students through the school paid AMA student membership. Students must choose the print First Aid as their incentive.
- Lippincott Williams and Wilkins (LWW) Health Library is a core book collection with over 35 fundamental texts, covering key areas of study used by our faculty and learner. Some class textbooks come from this resource. This is graciously supplied by the School of Medicine.
- NetAnatomy is an anatomy resource that provides pictures to show students different anatomy areas. This is graciously supplied by the School of Medicine.
- Thieme Test Prep for the USMLE® Series is a set of 9 books that provide overviews of the basic sciences and provides self-assessment of medical knowledge. This is provided by the LSUHS Library.
We provide early access to UWorld USMLE Step 1 QBank/Prep from the first day of matriculation and extended access to our Phase 2 students to UWorld USMLE Step 2 CK QBank/Prep.
These are graciously supplied by the School of Medicine. The question bank provides self-assessment with detailed explanations for learning and allows students to take mock test to establish their medical knowledge at different phases of their education. Access is continued until our students successfully complete the respective examinations.
