LSUHS School of Medicine participates in a number of important events on our campus each year. We have featured below some of the larger events.

Match Day

two medical students excitedly celebrate their Residency Match

Match Day is the culmination of four challenging years, and, in some ways, is the most exciting day of the medical school experience. Every year at a predetermined time, medical students across the country learn simultaneously which hospital will educate them for the next three to seven years.

White Coat Ceremony

group of LSUHS medical students read the Hippocratic Oath at their White Coat ceremony

Intended for first year students in medical, nursing and physician assistant programs, the White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage that often takes place during the initial days of orientation. It serves to welcome students to healthcare practice and elevate the value of humanism as the core of health care.

Family Day

Doctor shows family of a medical student samples in a case

Each school year family members and friends of medical school students visit our campus for the annual Family Day event. Family Day is an opportunity for friends and family members to get a first-hand look at what students experience during their four years in medical school.
