CLINICAL SKILLS CENTER
The Clinical Skills Center offers students a safe and controlled environment for learning, practicing and refining essential clinical and interpersonal skills to develop the competency and confidence needed to provide high-quality interdisciplinary care to actual patients.
- 7 full-service simulation rooms including a simulation hospital ward, emergency response/cardiology, adult, pediatric, neonatal, obstetric rooms as well as an ultrasound suite.
- Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) training programs, the only one in northern Louisiana and one of two in the state.
- 3 procedural and technical skills labs
- 15 standardized-patient exam rooms
All simulation rooms provide integrated high tech and audio-visual systems and medical mannequins designed to replicate real world scenarios. There are dedicated debriefing stations where students review their performance and receive feedback.

HARVEY is a Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator that offers a comprehensive training program for various heart conditions. FLS TRAINING ROOM
Fundamental of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) is a comprehensive education module for surgical residents, fellows, and practicing physicians to learn, practice, measure, and document laparoscopic skills. In the FLS Training room, technical skills that form the fundamental basis of many laparoscopic operations are practiced and improved.
TECHNICAL SKILLS LAB
The Technical Skills Lab is equipped with cutting-edge simulation technology. This advanced equipment incorporates virtual and haptic technologies to deliver top-notch training in advanced procedural, laparoscopic, and fundoscopic skills. The lab's state-of-the-art equipment provides a realistic and immersive training experience, enabling learners to acquire a high level of expertise in their respective fields. SIMULATED OPERATING ROOM
The Simulated Operating Room has state-of-the-art equipment, such as a laparoscopic tower, OR table, boom lights, and other advanced surgical tools necessary to teach the latest surgical techniques and procedures.
The Clinical Skills Center has been approved by the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) as Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) Test Centers. The Testing Center is located in the Technical Skills Lab.
